In conjunction with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.’s Beta Omega Chapter, we hosted our annual Sickle Cell Experience to educate the community on the effects of sickle cell anemia. Theta Epsilon alumna, former advisor, and current graduate chapter president, Taryn McNamee gave a profound presentation detailing her own experiences with the disease and describing resources for detection and support. Did you know that 1 in 12 African Americans carries the sickle cell trait? It’s important to stay educated! Sickle Cell Awareness Month is recognized every September.
