Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was founded on November 12, 1922 at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Since its founding, the organization has expanded to over 500 chapters in the U.S., Bahamas, Bermuda, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Germany and Korea.
The mission of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is to enhance the quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through community service. Our goal is to achieve greater progress in the areas of education, healthcare, and leadership development. Our members, affiliates, staff and community partners work to create and support initiatives that align with our vision.
THE ELITE Theta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was chartered on May 9, 1980 at the University of Southern California. Some of our signature programs include Boo, Bae, and Beyond – a forum designed for open discussion of relationships and sexuality and Afro-Latinx – an exploration of intersectional identities in the black community. We also participate in annual charity events for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and LA AIDS Walk as a demonstration of support for some of today’s most compelling health initiatives. Theta Epsilon is advised and mentored by the Theta Epsilon Sigma Alumnae Chapter located in Culver City. We also engage actively with other undergraduate chapters on nearby campuses, including the Mu Alpha chapter at UCLA and the Xi Rho chapter at the University of California, Riverside.
